NOTES OCTOBER 2006

10-29-06 The weekend report.

The wind and the rain dominated the weather on Saturday, but we stayed warm and dry by the woodstove.

Don went off to Bray's for the night, I stayed in and tended the fire.

Sunday, the tears-in-your-eyes wind and sporatic sprinkles kept up, but we zipped over to North Conway anyway, and got a few errands done, including two fish-n-chips lunch baskets at The 99's. Score.

10-25-06 Well, it's been a busy week for us, I'm sure for you all, too. Air is getting colder, days are getting shorter.. yup. Since my last entry, I've worked, been to Concord, Ma with mom for the memorial service for Jill's dad, Dick Brandhorst (which was lovely), Don had two gigs - back-to-back, I had my first day at a new part time job, we switched over to the new server... jeez there is more, but I won't bore you all with the details.

We got the new Talk Board up today! Check it out and leave a message.. It's much more "interactive" than the other message board.. It's a forum, really, so, that means it's meant to be interactive. But, we can just treat it like a message board, that's cool. No pressure. Dudes. See ya.

10-18-06 ---A WEB SITE UPDATE FROM KATE---

Hello friends. Just wanted to let you ALL know that our server, Siteworks, somehow, perhaps, ate our beloved "TALK" board (or maybe it was me or Don that screwed it up), so sadly, I have to announce, that all of our fun banter from the last 2 years or so is GONE! Please, a moment of silence......

Thank you. So, in retaliation, we will be switching over to a new server, fitly titled Websource. (Ok, actually, we've been considering this change over for quite a while now -IT'S CHEAPER! IT OFFERS MORE SPACE! IT OFFERS MORE EXTRAS!-, but the loss of our Talk board has pushed us to make the move today.) Within the next few days, we will have a new message board / forum right here at KateSeavey.Com, so please save your wildest, most hysterically funny comments for the launch. Please also excuse the inconsistantcy of the font size as I shrink it down to 11 pixels from 12.. I still have more pages to go. Also, I think we will also make a small face lift to the main header, so that'll be something new, too.

Meanwhile, please continue to visit and enjoy the site, and I thank you for your loyalty! Have a most excellent day, people.
-Kate

10-14-06 When I got home from work last night, I went down into the garden and pulled the last of the toms, because we were to have our first frost that night.

Looking kind of ratty, but still a high-yielding fruit plant!

The Marygolds were a big hit.

Then, I arranged a vase for the free roses I received from work....

...and spent some time enjoying the toasty fire.

10-9-06 Saw a deer this morning. Had to take the pic from a far.

Here's a close up/crop.

The raspberries have been very good this year.

10-9-06 Wood wood wood wood wood wood wood woood owoooosowododododofooooowowwow!

More piles.

These little plants are still going strong.

More free stuff from the dump.

10-7-06 Wow, the first week of October is done, and it's been chilly billy at night. We've had some fires in the fireplace, and we've stacked most of our wood in the barn. We've got more to get. Don's out cutting right now. I'll be down in a bit to help pick up the pieces and ends.

I've got horse fever wicked bad these days.

10-2-06 Don and I spent a good five hours walking around the fairgrounds in Fryeburg today. We watched some "Woodsmen Day" activities, grabbed some fried clams and frenchfries, walked over to the animal barns, took a ride on the ferris wheel, checked out some music, Don got a corn dog, and I got some fried dough, we looked at the rabbits and the chickens, then the draft horses. And that's all I got to say about that! Fun times.

On the big wheel.

Don made friends with this guy.

More pics from our day at the Fair. Oct. 2, 2006

10-1-06 A fitting day for the first day of October.. a little chilly, a little drizzle. So, we've made a pot of chilli and have spent most of the time chillin' out. Tomorrow, we'll head over to the Fair for "Woodsmen Day." Should be a good time.

Here's an old photo I scanned today of me standing next to my old Town & Country Station Wagon in the parking lot of a Grateful Dead concert in Berkley, California (1986). Doesn't get much more earthy-crunchy than that! Unless, of course, the car was a VW Bus.
