NOTES OCTOBER 2005
Back to the archives.

10-30-05 In the middle of switching over to a new "header" on my web site here, so please bear with me while I finish it up. Web master Don is helping me and I only get his help on his down-time from his real web work!

So, October is just about over, so I'm wrapping up this months page with another sigh of relief! We've had a strange month. About 24 feet of rain, which caused another week of a wet basement..(drag!). We had to throw out the old futon / couch we had on the floor down there..mold = yuck. As I mentioned before, server exploded in Chicago last week for a few days, leaving us with limited internet and email access, and tonight, after going down to the Bridgton Community Center and checking out "teen band night" with Nye, we came back to a very, very dark road..Of all things to happen, a car hit a telephone pole down the street on another road, and of course, that knocked out all the power on our street..for four hours! Mom & Don were stressing out about watching the game, and Dad had to run down to Bridgton for more gasoline for his generator..at 9 at night, which was really 10 at night, due to daylight savings! We lit a fire in the fireplace (luckily, it wasn't too cold), and had soup and sandwhiches, and flounced around on our couches, trying to read by candlelight, until the power came back on. Makes you really realize how much we depend on electricity. Ok, November is just around the corner..eat lots of chocolate and enjoy Halloween!

10-24-05 Ho hum. A little bored, so here's an update. It's raining. Again. Tomorrow, it's going to rain really hard, with lots of wind. Hopefully, we won't lose our power. I've got some laundry to do. Don & I had dinner next door Saturday night.

10-21-05 Shit! Sorry for the belated update here.. I know you've all been wondering....

Well, first off, we had a visitor last weekend (Brendan), and in addition to the usual 23-6 jam-sessions, one with our most awesome, Maine-based, saxophone-playin' friend, Gary, we also managed to squeeze in a walk up to the gazebo, which is on the peak of our hill across the street. Haven't been up there since last fall, when we went up with Dwight & Said.

Then, on Wednesday morning, our most excellent web site host, Siteworks, had a major crash, and we are on one of the servers that got hit (they have about six or seven servers). We had three days of no email and I couldn't check my web site. And, of course, none of you could visit either, but we are back now!

So, sorry about that. Now, whose gonna spark up that message board again, hmm? It's feeling ve-wee ve-wee neglected these days.

Ok, well I'm going to put this on-line now, and maybe later, I'll add a few more recent pics. Tomorrow, we head back out into the woods and load up a truck-load of wood. Yippee!

10-10-05 Well, it was suppossed to be a big weekend, with a gig and plenty of visitors and jams, but instead, it turned out to be a quite, rainy, family weekend. Don and I ended up not playing the gig at O.O. Beach, which was just as well, because the rain was quite brutal that night. Turns out the "better half" of Krush Truck could not make the trip up, so jamming with the band was out there, too. So, we have a visit from Crick and Nick and lots and lots of rain. It got a little chilly, too, so we had a nice fire in the fireplace yesterday afternoon into the evening, which is always nice. Here's a cool photo Don took from a couple of mornings ago when we had a case of Fog.

And here's that photo Dad took of me at the fair with my favorite kind of critter.

10-6-05 The weekend was unbelievable, weather wise, and Don & I got as much outdoor work done as possible. By Tuesday morning, we were concentrating on sawing off the lower limbs of the big pines in our front yard. The goal is as much sunlight as possible! We will be getting our new storm door this weekend. I hope it's not too difficult for Don to put it up!

Later that afternoon, Dad & I snuck over to the Fryeburg Fair for a few hours. Click on me & the steer to see a bunch of animal pics I took.

10-3-05 We are on day 2 of sweet, sunny days..perfect weather for gathering more wood! More wood! It's a mantra around here. The last day of September, Don went down to Mom & Dad's and mowed down a "road" towards the back woods...

...and down there were some "big Ash trees" ..cut up..a months worth of wood. Very nice.

Also very nice...this rainbow Don captured on one of the last days of September... Got's to love that digital camera..how did we ever live without them?

The Rotators continue to churn out the hits..ha ha. No really, it's turned out to be a really gratifying experiment in music. Not only do we enjoy making and recording the music, but we also enjoy making the finished "product". So what's wrong with home-made on the IMac CD covers? Everybody else is doing it, why can't we? :)

Now, no favorites here. My other bands, Krush Truck and The Steve Bailey Band are moving along quite nicely. Krush Truck continues to plow forward, expanding it's musical roads and simmering like a pot of Said's tasty stew. The Steve Bailey Band is an expirement in mind-reading. It never rehearses together, yet continues to explode on stage, and no, not like the drummer from "Spinal Tap"..more like the light show from the 70's rock band KISS! It RAWKS! And they all have so much heart.

Music is just good.
