NOTES NOVEMBER 2007

11-20-07 Just wanted to say Happy Thanksgiving to all of you out there in cyberworld! Thank you for visiting and indulging me with my small town stories of life up here on the little hill. Here's a bit from a blog I wrote the day after Thanksgiving last year:

..... I'd just like to comment that my Thanksgiving day with the family was probably one of the best ones ever this year. Of course, the food was amazing.. a fresh-killed bird, killer crandberry salad, and you can never go wrong with stuffing.. The cool part this year was that we kind of started a two new "traditions....."

The first one was we got all silly when we decided to go around the table and share what we were thankful for...... after someone finished what they had to say, everybody clapped..... It got more and more ridiculous as we went along, and everybody was laughing their asses off.

The second thing was we all decided to jump in three cars (their were 10 of us) after our meal and before our dessert, and visit some more relatives a few miles up the road..... we showed up empty-handed and un-announced, and it was a riot! My auntie was so happy I swear I saw a tear in her eye. We bounced around for 20 minutes, gave everybody hugs and handshakes, then we all stumbled back home for coffee and desserts..... It's wierd we've never done that before, but it really felt good.

And, we made it through a family dinner with not one single spat. Pretty amazing.....

Tonight is the first night I've made website changes on our new MacBook Pro, with my data stored on the new iomega external hardrive. I used BBEdit instead of my usual TextWrangler for editing, and Cyberduck instead of Fetch for uploading. Pretty cool stuff.

I've mixed and remixed a couple of tracks that are now the first two songs on the Krush Truck page, as well as updating this page. Geeky, ya.

I hope to add a new contact board or comment board or maybe go back to another forum in the next year..... I kind of miss the interaction we used to have here with the old "Talk Board." I may even look into switching this whole site over to my own blog page, but that's a lot of brain aerobics and I'm not sure I'm up for that!

Hope everyone has/had a safe and happy Turkey Day, and get out the Frankinscense & Myrrh balls because Christmas is just a heartbeat away! :)

11-11-07 Hey look, it's eleven eleven. It's Veteran's Day so I suspect the VFW's and the graveyards will be busy today. I won't have to worry about a big parade marching down my street anyway.

Last weekend was such a good time, what with the party and the jams, but also a very cool thing happened. I was contacted by perhaps my "oldest" friend yet, thanks again to having my own domain name. A next door neighbor from my childhood home, Suzy Earl, sent me an email out of the blue last Friday night. It's been really mindblowing emailing back and forth trying to fill in the gaps of twenty-five years! Soon I will scan and post some old photos from those days.

For the next two months, Don has been hired by Mr. Bailey to play as part of the house band for a blues jam up in Lewiston every Thursday night, so I went up with him last Thursday and played along with the band. I also sang a couple of songs, though I did get a huge microphone shock. The lips do not forget those too quickly.

Well, with the rapidly dropping temps, the woodstove has been polished and is now officially in use for the winter. Just when we finally got our "wi-fi" set up for our new laptop, we stop using the fireplace upstairs. I've been trying to get photos and videos organized, but it's getting overwhelming. The current stuff needs to be filed and taken care of, and I've got older stuff I want to transfer to digital and this is a very daunting task. I am especially frustrated because last night we went to pop in a DVD we made earlier this year and it seems to be scratched or something.. just stopped working.. ALL THAT WORK FOR NOTHING!! Grrr. I guess I'll have to buy better blank DVD's or something. It is agony sitting through all those hours of video, I'll tell you!

Don't forget to check out Dad's Blog, and for christ's sake, leave a comment if you do! Let the OG know you've been by, and don't let those Blogger Whores intimidate you. There's been a lot of action over there lately and it's worth a visit. Also, I've added a couple of new video's to my YouTube page if you've got a minute check them out. I'd like comments, too please! You can do it...

Well, Thanksgiving is a little over a week away, and sister Clarissa's nups to her long-time boyfriend Sean is the day after TDay! Then it's only a minute to Christmas and the agony of Christmas shopping. What does everybody want for Christmas?

11-4-07 Nat & Dwight showed up on Friday night, just in time for a hot plate of Chicken Said and some Celtics. Later we went down to the basement and, of course, jammed. Saturday brought overcast skies with impending doom of a tropical storm, but still, there was enough time for the the guys to go out and shoot disc golf for hours, while I went down town and shopped!

The word for the weekend for me has been "serendipitous" (which, yes I had to look up on in the dictionary.com). I happened to go into the Corn Shop to visit where I not only received a free fancy jacket and a 20% discount card for merchandise at Reny's, but I was overheard talking about Don's gig that night at a church in Sweden that is being renovated into a home, and it turns out the woman who overheard me talking was the owner of the church house! She invited me and my friends along, and we threw together some costumes and drove through the howling wind and pounding rain and entered a lovely party. What a cool bunch of people in a very cool living / party space! As you see from the new batch of photos on my Flickr, we had a swell time. Dwight and Nat and I even got to play a couple of songs, and then I sat in on second guitar with Pam & the SG's for most of the last set.

So, YEAH for November and the start of the crazy race towards "THE HOLIDAY SEASON!" (EEEEK!)
