NOTES MAY 2005
Back to the archives.
5-30-05 This has been the crappiest May in the history of the month of May. Good riddance, May. See ya. Go. There's the door. Beat it, punk. And take yer stinkin' Rain Clouds friends with ya~!

5-19-05 The weather has been "unsettled" - meaning cool, small pockets of rain, momentary splashes of sun. Don is closing in on the patio - just a few more bricks and it'll be done.

Then it'll be time to mow the fields.

5-14-05 I am rejuvinated again after playing a nice gig last night with Steve & his band at Bray's. I almost forgot how much I love to rock out for the peeps! Anyway, we've had this unbearable wind for two days, and cool temps. Today, that nasty wind is gone and it's warmed up to a comfortable temp, but, rain is in the near future, until Tuesday! Don is trying to finish his patio project. The last two days in the project, he went around and found giant rocks and placed them carefully along the barn, creating a nice flat walkway to the patio. Here's how it looks:

Today, he is working on creating a level up for the infamous grill...which we can't wait to get using again! It'll really be summer when the old steam-engine grill comes out of winter storage! p.s. The black flies are out in full force right now..
5-12-05 Hey! Well, we had a short, but sweet, visit from Nash & Dwight last weekend. We managed to squeeze in lots of fun despite the rain, me having to work, a damp basement, and the Celtics losing the playoffs. Saturday, Don set all of the equipment up in the living room, and managed to rustle up enough wood for a fire in the fireplace to take off the chill. When I got home early from work, we had a great dinner, watched to Celtics lose, then tried out our new digital recorder (thanks to Jill & Ray!!!! Who have moved to Houston, btw). It sounds amazing!!! Here's how the scene looked...

The next few days, the weather cleared up and it got beautiful and warm. Late monday afternoon, I started pulling the rocks along the drip line at the back of the house, and we got talking about how our back porch area needed to be leveled, but that we don't have the cash to invest in a grand deck. So we walked around the property and realized we had these two very old barn beams that have been laying on the ground for ever. Over the next two days, Don got inspired and while I was at work, he created this:

It's still in progress, but very cool. Looks great, eh? Note the big old stump rolled up from Mom & Dad's place.. Our goal is to only use stuff around the property and not spend any money, which we have achieved, so far! My first ever daffodill bulbs have bloomed (I know, kind of pathetic):

And, look at how high the hosta has grown!

One last thing! HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM! (May 10th, but, we're celebrating all week!) Looking forward to a visit from Crick & Nick this weekend. We'll playing at Bray's this Friday night with Steve Bailey's band..should be a gas! That's all for now. Thanks for checking in.
5-3-05
Welcome May! It was exactly one year ago today that I was sitting in the mortgage office with Don & my folks and a whole bunch of other ladies, signing a zillion papers!

Today's big sky.

The pretty woods in the front yard.

And here's how the rhubarb is looking today. Zdad claims he's going to make some rhubarb pie this summer...help yerself! Got plenty of it. (Compare this pic with last month!)
