2-16-07 Before I dash off to work, a few images from yesterday, post snowstorm! (We're both pretty sore today!)

2-14-07 Even though it's Valentine's Day (and a happy one to you!), the big news today is the big snow storm... heck, let's just call it a blizzard, ok? We're getting dumped on, getting close to a couple of feet. The wind is howling and it's still bitter, bitter cold. Luckily, we had no where to go today, and a pot o' Don's famous chili is stewing on the stove, and all is warm and cozy inside. Check out the new photos on my Flickre site, too.

2-10-07 We've been painting the kitchen area. It all started back on the last day of January. We painted the kitchen wall a lovely yellow color called "Honey." We also had a plan to paint the wall that the door is on a color called "Weathered Moss." Well, I got both colors, because we had to pull the refridgerator out so we could do it all in one swoop. First, here's what we found behind the fridge....

Ew, gross. We cleaned it, and painted our yellow, then got on the green. Two coats of each. We finished while the light was fading, loving the "Honey" but so tired, not really paying too much attention the green. Before we pushed the fridge back in, I added a little reminder note:

Pulled the tape, put everything back, and took a step back. Suddenly, something didn't look right.

Finally, after dinner and feeling very discouraged, we got to talking about how the paint mixing machines could make mistakes.. but it just didn't seem to make sense. Suddenly, I made a connection, and picked up the paint swatch, which had three greens on it. "Weathered Moss" was in the middle, but to the left, the lighter color, was a color called "Olive Light." Sure enough, when I put the swatch up to our wall, to our horror, we realized that was the color we had put on the wall. It was a real downer.

The next day, after work, I went to back to the hardware store and plead my case. I didn't want them to think that I had, indeed, chosen "Olive Light" but changed my mind and wanted a free gallon of paint. Luckily, they believed me, and while the lady was mixing me up a free gallon of the correct color paint, she admitted that they were having problems with their machine. Sure enough, when we went to check our new gallon of paint with the swatch, it was again, "Olive Light." DAMN! I got a store credit, and yesterday I went back and they had the machine in with the paint tech, but had their old machine back out for mixing. I got my replacement gallon of "Weathered Moss," and today we did the whole thing over again. Moving stuff, taping off corners, edging, rolling, two times. Finally, we have our color. Yeah!

The "Olive Light" wasn't a terrible color, but it just wasn't what we wanted. We thought, maybe, we could live with it, but after a week, we really still didn't dig it. It looked day glow at night! Freaky. The difference is very subtle, but the new color is so much better. And that's my story, so I'm sticking to it.

2-2-07 I've put my movie "The Wrath Of My Blade" on YouTube. WATCH IT.

2-1-07 February is Interior Home Decorating Month on the hill.
