NOTES DECEMBER 2005
Back to the archives.
12-29-05 This could be the last post of the year here, so I'll slap on these 12 images from our fun Christmas day. These were all taken by this guy (except the head shots of Dad & Nick, which were taken by me...but that's neither here nor there.) He was not as "worried" as he appears in this pic. I'm not sure what that look is!

Now, on to the show. Happy New Year!

12-18-05 We got another day's worth of snow on exactly a week after last Friday's storm..this one was just about the same amount, maybe a tad bit more. Then, it crusted over on the top overnight. Don and I managed to clear out the driveway in about 2 to 3 hours. As my brother Nash would say, "It's good exercise!"

This morning, about 20 degrees.
So, on Friday night, Don & I put up and decorated the tree...This year, Don went over to get one with Mom (I picked one out last year). This is why we have the tallest tree possible.

Half an inch from the ceiling.
I made a garland out of white paper, and Don made tinfoil "pedals" for some of the lights. We've really become quite geeky in some ways! We always have fun, though.

And so do the cats.
12-13-05 We ended up getting off easy on last Friday's snowfall...a mere 4 inches. And, it ended by 4 pm, so we had daylight to shovel out the driveway. The clouds blew away and there was this amazing light. I took a few photos, but they hardly do it justice.

I'm so frustrated. I can't get in touch with Terry Surles of Hull, Ma., and I'm very worried about him. I fear the worst. If somebody out there can ease my mind, I'd like to hear from you. If I didn't live 4 hours away from there, I'd go right now and try and find him.

12-9-05 Like most of New England today, we are getting our first pretty big snow, so I decided to stay home from work, as I really didn't feel like driving back up the hill tonight in the dark. Not that it matters, as business at the store is so very slow. And it's Friday. A little while ago, I went next door to give Mom a stick of butter, as she has started her Christmas baking.

We've done a little bit of decorating. Three wreaths this year, one on the barn door, and two by the front door. I also put some lights up over the barn and around our little porch area. It's fun.

12-4-05 Just like clockwork: since our first winter in Maine, we've had snowfall in the first week of December. This is our third winter here, and today, Sunday the 4th, there is snow falling down. Last year, there was an icestorm and it wrecked our favorite cherry tree. Today it looks like it could be just a little snow-squall (which we've come to expect, being on a foothill in a valley), but Don's already heading out to JimBob's at 9:30 am just in case. I went outside a little while ago and snapped a few pics.

An old rim I found on the stonewall.

Don looking out from the livingroom.

The new gutter system.
12-2-05 Here we are December again. This month, this web site will be two years old! I haven't kept all of the archives on-line, but I still have past pics and text tucked away into folders and zip disks. So, Happy Two to Kate Seavey Dot com, thanks for making it fun, y'all.
